Dr Brendan A Burkett

Brendan is a PhD Graduate Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University (ANU), 2000, and also obtained his BSc(Hons) from ANU.

After a brief stint as an academic at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, Brendan moved to Singapore in 2008 where he has spent the entirety of this time at the Agency for Science, Technoogy and Research (A*STAR). His research insterests include stimulus responsive chemistries for specialty chemical applications, and multidisciplanary approaches to the translation of low carbon technologies.

He has been a member of ACS since 2003, and is well known in the chemistry community as the creator of ChemScrapes cartoons, and Sketch Chemistry which featured in Chemical and Engineering News as a montlhy cartoon panel from 2017 - 2022.

Brendan is passionate about community engagement, mentorship, chemical education and outreach.
